Peregrine Ridge receives re-accreditation by the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association

You may have noticed that you can now try Peregrine Ridge wines at a number of farmers' markets across regional and metropolitan Victoria.

As our way of supporting the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association, Peregrine Ridge has gone through an accrediated process aimed at providing the public with confidence in the authenticity of producers. i.e. that the person they are transacting with is the person who grew or made the produce.

Peregrine Ridge is proud to announce that it has achieved re-accrediation by the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association.

You will see us proudly displaying this sign at accredited Victorian Farmers' Markets in the future.

Peregrine Ridge Wins Trophy for Best Sparkling Red at the Australian Sparkling Wine Show

Peregrine Ridge won the trophy for the Best Sparkling Red for its 2005 Winemaker's Reserve Sparkling Shiraz Late Disgorge at the Australian Sparkling Wine Show.

According to John Ellis and the judges, this makes it the best Sparkling Red in Australia for 2011/12.  The wine was a clear winner with all 7 judges awarding Gold and the wine finishing well ahead on points.  The judges were all sparkling wine experts and included:

  • John Ellis (Head judge – Hanging Rock)
  • Ian McKenzie (Seppelts chief sparkling winemaker for many years)
  • Tony Jordan (Chandon chief winemaker for years)
  • Ed Carr (Hardys/Arras – no introductions required)

John Ellis said that the judges were looking for great wines and they found them.  They could tell that the Peregrine Ridge wine was made to always be that way, and it was a real stand out that was a treat to judge.  The class was very strong and full of names that would be instantly recognisable as classy sparkling red wines.  John also said that you would not see a stronger group of sparkling wines (both reds and whites across the 5 classes) anywhere in Australia, and possibly the world, making the show a real treat to participate in.

So, according to the top judges, Heathcote is the home of Australia’s best Sparkling Shiraz!!

Situated at an elevation ranging from 250 to 290m above sea level, Peregrine Ridge is the highest vineyard on the east side of the Mt Camel Range. Grown with a near perfect organic soil management regime, the Peregrine Ridge vineyard is planted on Cambrian soils that are at least 6m deep with a healthy distribution of greenstone (Jasper).

Peregrine Ridge is ratedby James Halliday in the Australian Wine Companion, which is his rating for “an excellent winery able to produce wines of high to very high quality, knocking on the door of a five-star rating.  Will normally have one wine rated at 94 points or above, and two (or more) at 90 and above, others 87-89.”

Peregrine Ridge focuses on high quality, elegant Shiraz styles which emphasise the Mt Camel terroir. The wines are produced solely from estate grown fruit and handcrafted on site, using traditional techniques.

Peregrine Ridge aims to provide value for money at the top end of the quality spectrum of Australian red wines.
